While we've been a bit quiet on the blog front, we certainly haven't been idle.
The new team has been hard at work preparing for our first new release of 2025, and I’m delighted to announce that it is available for all winem8 partners to use right now.
Checkout Validation
Clear communication is key to providing great customer experiences, particularly when appealing to older or less tech-savvy demographics. To provide a better user experience we have introduced some much-needed validation and messaging on the checkout to help customers complete the process.

As part of this validation, we check if the customer already has an account with your store, and clearly communicate that to them if present, inviting them to login vs registering a new account.
Self-serve Reporting
A common request through our support channel is generating various exports or reports of upcoming subscription renewals. Noticing this need, we’ve developed a new screen in the admin, where you can generate reports as CSV downloads to manipulate in Excel / Numbers / Google Sheets.

At present we have two options, one for all active subscriptions, and another that exports all subscriptions that contain a specific product. These two reports cover 95% of the requests we’ve received in the last 6months, but we will be expanding on the offering in the future.
Inline Customer Creation (is back)
An original feature of Winem8 at launch, changes to Shopify’s API had made this process unusable when we inherited the platform.

You no longer need to create a customer in Shopify before creating a new Custom Subscription from the admin, you can make both the Subscription and the Customer at the same time from the Winem8 admin, as it should be.
A lot more under the hood
In addition to these much-requested features, a lot of work has gone into getting the current winem8 v1 codebase and infrastructure to a better place so we can make improvements faster and more reliably.
I won’t bore you all with the challenges and complexity of taking over an existing software product, but it’s taken some time to get there. Achieving this milestone, we’re in a great position for future versions, with more features being actively developed for subsequent releases planned in late Feb and March.
What’s in store for 2025
2025 is shaping up to be a bumper year for Winem8, with the upcoming release of our "version 2" platform. In addition to this, we're developing other products targeted at specific integration needs we see commonly within the wine industry.
Existing customer's should be delighted to know that we have new features planned for the current version of Winem8, all the way up to our v2 launch.
Whether you're considering taking your DTC to the next level, or on the Journey with us already, I encourage you to reach out and discuss your goals for 2025 so we can help you get there.
Wishing you a successful 2025 vintage on behalf of Myself, Marc, and the whole Winem8 team.
Cheers,
Alex
